Frequently Asked Questions & Information
Whether you are looking to understand the basics, compare products, or learn how to get the most out of your GlowState panel, you will find a variety of easy-to-understand answers below.
GlowState panels are broad-spectrum LED devices. Each panel uses single-chip LEDs to emit light across 12 specific wavelengths, from 480nm through to 1060nm — spanning blue, red and near-infrared.
You control the experience from the panel's touch screen: choose which wavelength groups are active, set the output level and timer, adjust pulse, and build, save and name up to 20 of your own session settings.
Output is measured on a spectrometer and rated up to 218 mW/cm² at 3 inches, so you know exactly what each panel delivers. Sessions are simple — position the panel, choose your settings, and enjoy the light.
For more detail on any specification, see the spec table on each product page. Check the product catalog here - All Products
Most standard panels use just two wavelengths. GlowState Radiance panels feature an industry-leading 12 distinct wavelengths spanning Blue, Red, and Near-Infrared light. Each wavelength interacts with tissue at a different depth, allowing a single session to engage a much broader range of tissue layers simultaneously.
Blue (480nm): Visible blue light that interacts with the outermost layers of the skin.
Red (590nm, 630nm, 650nm, 660nm, 670nm): Visible red wavelengths that penetrate the skin and into superficial tissue. This range is among the most extensively studied in published PBM literature for skin-level applications.
Near-Infrared (810nm, 830nm, 850nm, 940nm, 980nm, 1060nm): Invisible to the naked eye but highly active. NIR wavelengths penetrate progressively deeper — through the skin, into muscle, and toward joints and bone — with longer wavelengths reaching the greatest depth.
The broader the spectrum, the more tissue depths are engaged in a single session. For those who want to explore the published research behind each wavelength, we have listed trusted resources in the "Where Can I Find More Details and Research" question on this page.

Are there any safety guidelines I should know about?
- Our panels are designed for indoor use only. Keep them away from liquids and high humidity and never use them with wet hands. Each panel comes with protective eyewear included. You should avoiding looking directly into the LEDs at all times. It’s worth noting that no UV-A or UV-B light is emitted from any of the panels or other GlowState red light products.
Should I test for photosensitivity before my first session?
- Yes — and it only takes a couple of minutes. Place your forearm 15–30cm from the panel and run it for 2–4 minutes. If you notice any unusual redness or discomfort, you may have a photosensitivity and should consult a healthcare professional before proceeding.
How should I approach my first session?
- Start slow. For your first 5–10 sessions, use shorter durations and set the brightness to 40–50% LED output. Once your body has had a chance to adjust, you can build up to 100% power.
What are the general session guidelines?
- Use the panel on dry, bare skin. Position yourself 10–30cm from the panel for 5–15 minutes per area. For consistent results, most users aim for 5–6 sessions per week. Stay well hydrated before and after each session.
How do I clean and maintain my panel?
- Always turn off and unplug the panel before cleaning. Wipe it gently with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, and ensure the panel is completely dry before your next use. Do not disassemble.
What is the warranty on the Radiance Series?
- We stand by our engineering. The Radiance Series comes with a 2-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Any purchase is also covered by your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Are there specific safety guidelines for the Halo Cap?
- The Halo Cap contains a lithium-ion battery and is strictly for indoor use. Keep it away from all liquids, do not use it on wet hair or skin, and never look directly into the LEDs.
How do I test for photosensitivity with the Cap?
- Turn the cap on and hold it against your skin (such as your forearm) for 2–3 minutes. If redness or discomfort occurs, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
How do I use the Cap for the first time?
- Begin with shorter sessions on the lowest power setting (the Blue level — 50% power). Gradually build up to full power over your first 5–10 sessions.
What is a typical Halo Cap session like?
- Use the cap on dry hair and scalp for 10–30 minutes per session, ideally 5–6 days a week. The cap features a built-in automatic shut-off timer for your convenience.
How do I clean the Halo Cap?
Turn it off and disconnect from the charger. Wipe the interior with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and never submerge the cap in water.
What is the warranty on the Halo Cap?
- The Halo Cap includes a 1-year limited warranty. Any purchase is also covered by your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

What safety guidelines apply to the Focus Flex Joint Wrap?
- Like the Halo Cap, the Focus Flex contains a lithium-ion battery. Keep it dry, do not use it with wet hands or skin, and always detach the power panel before charging. Never charge the device while wearing it.
How do I test for photosensitivity with the Wrap?
Turn the wrap on and place it against your skin for 2–3 minutes. If you notice any redness or discomfort, stop use and consult a healthcare professional.
How should I start using the Joint Wrap?
- Begin with shorter sessions at the lowest power setting (P1 — 50% power). After 5–10 sessions, you can work up to full power (P3).
How do I get the most out of a session?
- Apply the wrap directly to dry, bare skin. Where possible, keep the limb or joint extended so the LEDs sit as close to the skin as possible. Sessions of 10–30 minutes per area, 5–6 days a week, are typical.
How do I clean the Joint Wrap?
- Turn it off and disconnect it from the charger. Wipe the surface with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Allow it to dry completely before your next session.
What is the warranty on the Focus Flex Joint Wrap?
- The Focus Flex Series comes with a 1-year limited warranty. Any purchase is also covered by your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Are there any reasons I should not use Red Light Therapy? (Contraindications)
- You should not use red light therapy products if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known photosensitivity condition, suffer from epilepsy or seizure disorders (particularly in relation to flashing or pulsing light), or have active skin infections, unhealed wounds, or recent severe sunburn in the treatment area. Those with electronic medical implants or who have been diagnosed with cancer should only use these devices under the direct supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. These products are not suitable for use by children.
What will I feel during a session?
- Most users notice a mild, soothing warmth and occasionally a gentle tingling sensation. Some people experience temporary fatigue during their first few sessions as their body adjusts. If you feel genuine discomfort at any point, stop the session immediately.
When will I notice a difference?
- Everyone's experience is different. Some users report noticing changes within days of starting consistent use; for others, it may take several weeks. Consistency is the key — regular, repeated sessions are what PBM is designed around.
Why can I see some LEDs shining but not others?
- Completely normal — and actually a sign that your panel is working exactly as it should! Our panels use a combination of visible and invisible light. The Blue and Red wavelengths are visible to the human eye. However, Near-Infrared (NIR) wavelengths — from 810nm up to 1060nm — fall outside the visible spectrum. Those LEDs may appear "off," but they are actively emitting light energy that penetrates beyond the skin's surface.
